Marcus Stroman has proven himself a fiery competitor across six major league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets. The 28-year-old showed a desire to make his first full campaign in the Big Apple a true bonding experience on Monday, giving his Mets teammates training items from his Height Doesn’t Measure Heart apparel line.

Stroman arrived in New York via a July 28 trade and logged 11 starts for the Mets. Fond of trying “to spoil people” when on a roster, he called on his five-year-old family-run apparel business to let the Mets know that he needs for them to be as committed to winning as he is. Thanks to a kit that includes T-shirts and shorts—perfect attire to don ahead of the team’s spring training tilts in Port St. Lucie, Fla.—the roster members will be on-brand through the white, orange and blue color scheme on the attire.
Baseball has always been full of lively characters, so as the 2020 season approaches, journalists will be looking to see which athletes distinguish themselves as solid clubhouse presences. They might be especially enthusiastic about doing so, given the sting that the cheating scandal involving the Houston Astros has caused.
If the Mets are a consistent bunch, perhaps Stroman will end up receiving credit as one such interesting personality to cover, and perhaps that will lead to more press for Height Doesn’t Measure Heart, which strives to promote positive messaging and break stereotypes. While the Blue Jays are a nice market, nothing, one could argue, beats playing for a New York team, so it will be interesting to see if Stroman and the Mets orchestrate any giveaways of his line during the season.
